Dr. Tommie Yvette Turner is the Director of the Institute for Science and Mathematics at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis. She was acknowledged nationally by Insights into Diversity Magazine as an Inspiring Women in STEM Award recipient. Dr. Turner was selected for the first cohort of Opportunities for Underrepresented Scholars (OURS) sponsored by the National Science Foundation and has received Postgraduate Academic Leadership certificates from Fielding Graduate University and the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Turner earned her Ph.D. in pharmaceutical science/environmental toxicology from the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at Florida A&M University, her Master of Science degree in chemistry from Missouri University of Science and Technology, and her Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry (cum laude) from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
