I am currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Data Science and Mathematics at Saint Vincent College (past 2 years) and I have a total of 15 years experience working in academia.

Previously I was an Assistant Professor of Informatics in the Perelman School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania. I spent 13 years working at Ivy-League Academic Medical Centers in the field of informatics and have published over 80 peer-reviewed manuscripts! I have authored one textbook as the sole author (https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-74383-2).

I mentored 2 PhD students and 2 post-doctoral scientists as a primary mentor, and I mentored many more on dissertation committees and other venues.

As a translational researcher, I have over 18 years experience practicing in biomedical informatics! This includes 4 years in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan area, 7 in New York City Metropolitan Area (Columbia University), 6 years in Philadelphia (University of Pennsylvania) and I have now returned to the Pittsburgh Metropolitan area working at Saint Vincent College (2 years)!

Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association.

I come from a socioeconomically disadvantaged background. This background has fueled my passion for studying disparities, especially socioeconomic disparities and the affect of these disparities on healthcare, both at the individual level and the community level. The interplay of genetic factors and environmental factors is also a topic of intense interest of mine!
