Dedicated to a life of service, Dr. Carolynn Julien is passionate about building meaningful relationships and advancing research excellence. She serves as the Associate Provost for Research & Sponsored Projects at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU), where she partners with faculty, staff, and students to develop strategic approaches for securing funding and enhancing institutional competitiveness.
Dr. Julien brings almost four decades of experience in research development, having previously served at Hunter College of CUNY. Throughout her career, she has championed initiatives that strengthen research infrastructure, improve faculty success, and expand student research opportunities. Her life’s work is to help faculty grow their research careers by guiding them to identify funding opportunities, craft competitive proposals, and launch impactful projects that advance scholarship and transform communities.
A respected leader in her field, Dr. Julien has established several professional working groups to support robust research frameworks and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP). She is also a dedicated mentor to research development professionals nationwide. In 2023, Dr. Julien was honored with the NORDP Mentoring Award for her ability to create inclusive, supportive, and engaging environments that foster professional and personal growth.
