Under the direction of the Provost's Office, Cathy collaborates with USHE institutions, K12, and industry partners to strategically coordinate academic pathways that meet regional workforce needs with particular emphasis on high-wage, high-demand jobs across Utah. Cathy also focuses on coordinating the development of transfer pathways from two-year institutions to SUU.
She is a former dean of the Palmdale Center, Extended Learning and Community Projects at Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, California. She led the operations of a new off-campus center in addition to managing multiple programs for the college including contract and community education, workforce development, apprenticeship programs, career technical education grant management, high school articulation and dual enrollment, and an Associate of Arts degree program at California State Prison Los Angeles County.
Prior to her career in higher education, Cathy was a senior level manager in Public/Government Affairs in the energy industry with Southern California Edison. She led public affairs activities and projects in the field as well as developed plans and strategies to keep government and community stakeholders informed and engaged on major issues, programs, and projects on behalf of the company. Cathy served as Northern Region Director for Local Public Affairs and led a team of field-based region managers across a 25,000 square mile territory in North Los Angeles, Kern, Tulare, Inyo, Mono, Ventura, and Santa Barbara counties.
Cathy has also held the position of executive director of the Antelope Valley Board of Trade, a business advocacy organization, and in marketing with the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds. She and her husband previously owned and operated a generator rental company serving the motion picture industry for 13 years.
She has served as a board member of various economic development organizations as well as with the former California Space Authority supporting the aerospace and commercial space industries in the state. She remains an active member of the Edwards Air Force Base Civilian-Military Support Group.
